The First Day School ended our year with strawberries! It was the month of the Strawberry Full Moon, so we celebrated with strawberry shortcake. First, we sang a couple of favorite songs, heard the story of the Strawberry Full Moon, and remembered our favorite songs, activities, stories, and themes from this past year. We each received a “Tree Journal” notebook in which to draw pictures, write poems, or just write information about trees we see over the summer. We planted our 3 Sisters Garden in the rain.
We are now on vacation until September 8, but we will have occasional “First Day School Hikes” on Sunday afternoons during the summer to which everyone in the Meeting is invited. The first Hike will be June 30. We will eat brown bag lunches with a few treats to share at the Meetinghouse, then drive to Henry’s Hill, Sudbury Valley Trustees Conservation Area at 14 Wayside Inn Rd, Framingham, MA. We will probably start our hike between 12:30-1 pm. If you want to join us, but want to skip lunch, let Anne know so she can let you know whether we are running early or late. Time and distance will depend on the interest and ability of those who show up! Over the summer, families are welcome to spend time playing in the FDS room or on the swings and are invited to check out books from our FDS Library.
